STAR WARS: SKELETON CREW SERIES UNVEILED AT D23 BRASIL
Disney and Lucasfilm have unveiled new images for the upcoming Star Wars series, ‘Skeleton Crew,’ during the D23 Brasil event. The series, set to premiere on Disney+ on December 3rd with a two-episode debut, follows the journey of four kids who make a mysterious discovery on their seemingly safe home planet and subsequently find themselves lost in a dangerous galaxy. The show features a cast including Jude Law, Ravi Cabot-Conyers, Ryan Kiera Armstrong, Kyriana Kratter, Robert Timothy Smith, Tunde Adebimpe, Kerry Condon, and Nick Frost.
The series is helmed by head writers and executive producers Jon Watts and Christopher Ford, with additional executive producers including Jon Favreau, Dave Filoni, Kathleen Kennedy, and Colin Wilson. Co-executive producers are Chris Buongiorno, Karen Gilchrist, and Carrie Beck, while Susan McNamara and John Bartnicki serve as producers. The directing team for the season includes Watts, David Lowery, The Daniels (Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert), Jake Schreier, Bryce Dallas Howard, and Lee Isaac Chung.
‘Skeleton Crew’ is part of the broader Star Wars universe, fitting into the diverse range of tones and styles that characterize the franchise. Jon Favreau elaborated on this diversity, stating, ‘We have now seen with The Mandalorian and with Obi-Wan Kenobi that there’s room for different tonalities within Star Wars.’ He added, ‘And now with Skeleton Crew, we’re seeing younger characters, but not necessarily a younger demographic. We love the way The Clone Wars dealt with young characters but in a very mature way, and we want to make sure we’re following the same, seeing things through the eyes of kids but not necessarily for kids.’
The new images released at D23 Brasil provide a glimpse into the adventures and challenges the characters will face as they navigate their way home and encounter various allies and enemies. This series continues the tradition of exploring different genres within the Star Wars universe, ensuring a fresh and engaging experience for fans while maintaining the core elements that make Star Wars beloved by audiences worldwide.
Filipino Translation:
Sabi ni Jon Favreau, ‘nakita na natin with The Mandalorian and with Obi-Wan Kenobi na may space for different tonalities within Star Wars.’ Dagdag pa niya, ‘And now with Skeleton Crew, we're seeing younger characters, but not necessarily a younger demographic. We love the way The Clone Wars dealt with young characters but in a very mature way, and we want to make sure we're following the same, seeing things through the eyes of kids but not necessarily for kids.’
